We have a splendid 1970 Ferrari Dino 246 GT. The car has been subject to a full restoration in the past by Joe Macari, the British Ferrari specialist. The car was taken back to bare metal and still looks great. The high quality of the work is still self-evident. All work carried has been wonderfully recorded in a large file and photo album. This is an early L-series car featuring the well-known 206 GT styling with aluminium bonnet and doors. Ferrari only built 357 in this particular series. This one is a European supplied car with electric windows. The cost of the restoration amounted to over £ 150,000 at the time. The car gained entry to the extremely prestigious Salon Privé event.

The bodywork still looks fantastic. Even though the restoration took place some time ago, the condition can effortlessly be classified as still being very good. The bodywork presents very well with nice and thin and correctly aligned panelwork. During the restoration the car was fully resprayed in the beautiful anthracite finish you see today. The work was carried out to an exacting standard and has virtually no signs of use. The car stands on its original Cromodora rims with good quality and correctly sized Michelin tyres. Items such as lighting and the chrome brightwork are all in very good shape.

The Dino’s interior was naturally included in the refurb. Again the work done is of a very high standard, providing an awe inspiring result. The Daytona seats are upholstered in red and black leather. The great looking leather is virtually pristine. The carpets too have been immaculately fitted. The gorgeous looking instrument cluster works as it should. The replaced headlining also passes muster.

Mechanically the car was fully overhauled. Not only did the transmission and engine receive the necessary attention, the suspension too was fully taken care of. Every support strut was dismantled, blasted and provided with new rubber bushes. The brakes were fully tackled, springs and shock breakers were replaced

with new parts. In other words a pure quality refit, resulting in a Dino with impeccable manners. The good running engine develops plenty of mid-range pulling power. The precise action of the gearbox has the right kind of gear ratio that is well-suited to the car’s sporty character. The manner in which engine and gearbox are placed contributes in no small way to the car’s driving pleasure. The engine is situated straight behind the rear divider. You will surely want to experience the incredible feeling one gets when accelerating through the revs and the Webers suck in all that petrol and air. It is quite incredible to think that automotive perfection was achieved at such an early stage.

The accompanying documentation is wonderful. The photos have been mounted in a Schedoni leather album and the rest of the car’s information has been neatly cataloged in a file. This is a most fantastic early and wonderfully documented L-series Dino 246 GT presented in immaculate condition.
