Debuting in concept form in 1989 at the Detroit Auto Show, Chrysler President Bob Lutz and designer Tom Gale set out to create a modern concept of the Shelby Cobra. With Carroll Shelby on board to emulate a “new” Cobra, the new Viper utilized a massive 8.0 Liter V10 engine developing 400 HP and created a true analog driver’s car with a unique visceral experience. Upon debut, the Viper was like nothing else on the road.
