● Bold and Beautiful Styling
● Excellent Restoration with Attention to Authenticity
● Futuristic Elements Throughout

The Model: When Desoto had first been introduced its main competition was the Oldsmobile from General Motors. Like Olds, Desoto styling was usually on the cutting edge with the waterfall grills of the 1930’s Airflow, to the massive chrome grilles and tall fins of the 1950’s. Adventurer was Desoto’s iconic car, the one that everyone wanted, but only a few could afford. For 1959, Adventurer was considered a series unto itself and but was still very exclusive limited to just a convertible and two-door hardtop models. Colors were limited to either white or black, both highlighted by plenty of gold anodized trim plus the unique wheel covers. Under the hood, the new “wedge” V8 engine was ready with dual-carbs and exhaust, Torqueflite automatic push-button transmission and a host of items such as power steering, brakes, and the newest thing for 1959, swivel front seats, all optional in other models, standard with Adventurer.

The Car: One of just 590 Adventurer Sportsman hardtops produced for the 1959 model year, this lightly used outstanding example was treated to a sympathetic restoration in the 1980’s by a marque specialist who only brought the best to his collection. Once showcar standards were achieved it has been used very sparingly. As one of our consignor’s favorite cars, it is exercised regularly to keep all systems operational. Maintained in a climate controlled facility, this Desoto has led a pampered life for the past 30+ years. It is fitted with all the amenities that make it a legend including power steering and brakes, power windows and of course the front swivel bucket seats. As a bonus it also has swept-back dual rear antennas, dual fender mirrors, wide whitewall tires and factory air-conditioning. Reported to be in excellent operational condition, who know what adventures wait for the new owner of this fine Desoto.
