There are some car brands that have disappeared from our memories and that few real enthusiasts still trace their history. This is not the case of De Dion Bouton, a major player in the very first part of the automobile adventure and the first brand in the world in 1900.

From steam to oil, the beginnings of the automobile brand are made 30 years before the First World War and 6 years before the appearance of the Eiffel Tower in the Parisian sky. The first products were steam-powered tricycles for individuals and road tractors for professionals. In total autonomy, De Dion Bouton is one of the first brands to manufacture all these mechanical parts and develops the single cylinder petrol engine which will be installed on their worm gear from 1895.

This small car became the first mass-produced car in history, selling more than 2,000 units until 1902. For the anecdote, it is a screw that will be the first car registered in the world in Canada.

Military vehicles, community vehicles, sports and racing cars, personal cars, the manufacturer will sell relentlessly until the 1929 crisis which will seriously affect the finances of the industrial group.

Manufactured in 1901, our example of screw is a Type G, the last variation of this model already more successful than at its beginning. In its original state, only the wearing parts were changed in order to make this very endearing little car pass the time and the ages. Now mechanically restored, it is a beautiful ticket to the famous London-Brighton rally and one of the strongest symbols of French ancestry.
