Beschreibung

In 1952, Ford Motor Company created the Continental Division. Headed by Edsel Ford, its mission was simple – to create America’s most elegant and opulent personal luxury car.

This Continental Mark II is quite possibly the finest restored example in existence. The consignor, the restorer behind many Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance® Best in Class winners, pursued this particular Mark II because of its factory options and outstanding pre-restoration condition. He then treated it to a world-class restoration at his facility in Washington state. The comprehensive restoration totaled more than 1,400 hours and included the repair or replacement as needed of all mechanical, electrical, vacuum, and AC systems. Great care was taken to match and apply the special-order White Lucite finish over a flawlessly prepared body. Hand-worked Scottish leather was procured to replicate the car’s original grained black-and-white interior. The exhaustive restoration included stainless trim, polished to perfection and flash-chromed to mimic the factory’s elaborate process; NOS date-coded glass; and the original headliner with basket weave and gold threads, which was worked on by a noted Seattle fabric restorer.

Offered with a copy of its original factory invoice, incredibly rare hard-cover Continental sales book, and restoration documentation, this Continental Mark II is among the finest Mid-Century American cars that we have offered, and it must be a consideration for the serious collector.
