A moving article in the magazine Auto Heroes in January 2018 looks at the Méhari we are presenting and our collector’s special bond with this model. At the start of 1969, his parents were the first in the Ardèche area to buy a Mehari, and his mother, who drove it regularly, became known as "the Méhari lady". Successive models followed on, nursing him through his childhood. And, at the age of eighteen, our collector took ownership of his first car which was naturally...a Méhari. A connoisseur of the model, he decided to carry out a restoration of his Méhari 4×4, entrusting it to Méhari Loisirs, the well- known specialist based in Pouzin, Ardèche. It’s amusing to discover that this specialist developed an electric Méhari called E-Story and it was our collector who bought chassis number 1 ! The car is superb today in its beige hoggar livery. We advise studying the file of invoices totalling € 40,000 that document the car’s restoration and all the parts used. It demonstrates the rigorous approach of our collector. The transmission (gearbox and differential), sometimes an issue on this model, has been entirely replaced with new parts.The Méhari 4×4 is a rare car in itself and is even more so in this unique condition, having been restored to a very high standard.
