Ideal for summer!
After a press presentation in Deauville in May 1968, the Méhari was unveiled to the public at the Paris Motor Show the same year. Its design is revolutionary, with in particular a body in ABS tinted in the mass unprecedented for the time. Most of the mechanical components, including the 602cc engine, come from the Dyane 6. The 28-horsepower air-cooled twin cylinder engine moves the vehicle's 525 kilos and 400 kilograms of payload, proof that the Méhari can be both a pleasure and a utility car. Modular, it can be completely uncovered, including the windscreen, all the elements above the body belt being removable. Proof of its versatility, the Méhari will be commanded by the French army and the gendarmerie. Produced for 19 years, it will benefit from some stylistic evolutions before finally being removed from the catalogue in 1988. In literary Kabyle, Méhari means camel that carries people on its back!
The méhari we present to you is a 1972 model in sand beige color equipped with the hardtop and spare wheel on the front hood like the 4X4 versions. Car reassembled on the basis of two Méharis, it is now in good general condition and was still used recently for travel along the Arcachon basin. The car shows good routine maintenance and during the test, it worked without any problems. The chassis is healthy and the black leather upholstery is still very presentable. The short walk by the sea was a pleasure and there are countless signs of sympathy from the onlookers as it passed by! A true symbol of freedom and an art of living, this is the opportunity to acquire a Mehari in good condition for sunny days at an attractive price.
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
