- Jean-Paul Cardinal's collection
- Completely restored a few years ago
- 2nd hand

An non-conformist vehicle, the Citroën Méhari has never, over the years, gone out of fashion. The idea for a vehicle with a plastic body came from Count Roland de la Poype, whose factory would later assemble the boxes. After a press presentation in Deauville in May 1968, it was unveiled to the general public at the Paris Motor Show the same year. Most of the mechanical components, including the 602cc engine, come from the Dyane 6. The 28-horsepower air-cooled twin cylinder engine pulls the vehicle's 525 kilos and 400 kilograms of payload, proof that the Méhari can be as much a pleasure car as an efficient utility vehicle. Modular, it can be completely uncovered, including the windscreen, all the elements above the body belt being removable. Proof of its versatility, the Méhari will be commanded in large numbers by the French army and the gendarmerie. It will also become an essential accessory in coastal regions, furnishing many second homes. Produced for 19 years, it was finally removed from the catalogue in 1987.
Manufactured in 1969, this Méhari comes from the personal collection of Mr. Jean-Paul Cardinal who has worked all his life for the Citroën brand. A member of the Engineering Department, he will end his career as Director of Press Relations. The copy we propose is a second hand entirely restored by Mr. Cardinal and one of his friends a few years ago. The engine has been rebuilt, the white bodywork completely replaced, as have the upholstery, tarpaulin and black doors. Its counter shows 532 km, which corresponds to the distance covered since the restoration. The car starts off at a quarter turn and its road test gave us complete satisfaction. This interesting Méhari presented at an attractive price is just waiting for her new owner to take the road back to the beach.

This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
