A bomb : that was the impact made by the DS when it was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1955. With its spectacular streamlined body, it was like nothing seen before, and made a clean break from traditional techniques. The chassis-platform and front-wheel drive allowed for a spacious interior, and the power-assisted steering and hydro-pneumatic suspension provided a level of comfort worthy of the top luxury marques. Today, the DS is considered by collectors around the world to be exceptional, for both its road-going qualities and the position it holds in the history of transport. The 'DS' name has become a marque of its own, the ultimate acknowledgement of its importance.
This manual DS 21 Pallas was bought by André Trigano in 1978. It has been repainted in the past and with the exception of a few small spots of corrosion on the sill below the boot, the coachwork is in excellent condition, presented in metallic grey with black roof. Inside, the tan leather upholstery is also in superb condition, as are the carpets and door linings. The odometer shows 05442 km and the dashboard features a Continental Edison radio with pre-selection. It is worth remembering that in this version, the DS was fitted with a 115 bhp engine providing a performance to match its good looks. Even though it has never been completely restored, this is a car that has clearly been well looked after. With its lovely Pallas finish, it is ready to provide yet more pleasure to its new owner.
