Beschreibung
1961 Valiant R Series sedan.
Rarely-seen manual.
Ready for refurbishment.
Chrysler made just over 1000 of its first-ever Australian-assembled model R Series Valiant sedan. And while the majority of them made were three-speed manuals (672 out of 1008), when they come up for sale (which is rarely) almost always they are the three-speed automatic examples. All of which makes this floor-change manual R Series a rare find. Presented in white with a non-original black vinyl roof, the paintwork has been refreshed at some stage but does the car no credit, with some cracking below the right headlight, and lots of nicks and scratches. There’s some pitting on the exterior chrome work too. Inside, the cabin has been fitted with a blue vinyl interior from a later-model AP6 Valiant Regal (from the mid ‘60s) which presents in fair condition, though a patch to the driver’s side of the front bench seat is coming adrift. There’s new blue carpet on the floors, and on the rear parcel shelf as well. This R Series is also fitted with a period push-button radio, and there’s a home-made centre panel below the dash with a clock and aftermarket gauges. So, this rare ’61 Valiant R Series sedan is largely complete but both ready for and deserves a full refurbishment. Previously on Victorian club registration, the 1961 Valiant R Series manual sedan is being offered for sale unregistered.
