Chevrolet set the automotive world on fire in the fall of 1962 when the all-new Corvette "Sting Ray" was unleashed. While many pundits of the day immediately started to conclude that GM's inspiration must have come from the equally sleek and sporty E-Type Jaguar which had premiered two years earlier, the truth was the new Corvette's styling had come from designs created by GM's Vice President of Styling Bill Mitchell.
