According to its chassis number, this Corvette left the Chevrolet factories in February or March 1958. Our Belgian enthusiast acquired it in 2005 through the specialist Pro Team Corvette, from Napoleon (Ohio, USA). He wanted a fuel-injected version fitted with the new 160mph graduated speedometer appearing on the 58 model. It is equipped with a manual transmission, a particularly attractive feature.
Once imported into Europe, this Corvette benefited from a comprehensive restoration, both mechanical and cosmetic, and the file includes an invoice from Corvette Central, a specialist in Sawyer (Michigan), for the purchase of mechanical and bodywork parts. The result is absolutely magnificent, with a two-tone black and metallic grey livery that gives the Corvette an undeniable chic, enhanced by its superb red upholstery. Although the work was carried out more than 15 years ago, this Corvette is still in nice condition, as is the engine. In 2011, a dyno test revealed generous torque and 220 hp from 2,600 rpm for the V8. This car reflects the charms of America in a European dimension: the best of both worlds?
