Beschreibung

Few automobiles are identified simply by their engine, but one of the most recognized is the Cadillac V-16. The early, narrow-angle 16-cylinder engine was an engineering marvel, and its power and smoothness were complemented by a wide range of custom coachwork options, selected to best match the owner’s personal preference. Most sporting among the 30-plus body styles catalogued was the roadster designed by Fleetwood, in the style of the 1931 example offered here.

This car began life as a five-passenger sedan. The Fleetwood-style coachwork incorporates traditional roadster elements, including a fold-down windshield, a top that folds nearly flush with the body, and a rumble-seat compartment providing occasional seating for two. The body is finished in a beautiful, dark-red tone with a matching canvas top and contrasting tan leather upholstery. Whitewall tires paired with painted wire wheels with chrome spokes lend a sporty air to the presentation. This Roadster is well accessorized with a grill stone guard, metal side mount covers with mirrors, wind wings, Pilot-Ray driving lights, and the Cadillac goddess hood ornament. The quality of the craftsmanship was recognized with a 2004 AACA National First Place award, and it has since benefited from a new top and upholstery under its current ownership. Well crafted and paired with one of the most powerful engines of its time, this V-16 offers its next owner both graceful show and effortless touring opportunities.
