Beschreibung
The Skylark was a car produced by Buick from 1953 to 1954, from 1961 to 1972 and from 1975 to 1998. It was marketed in seven series, each of which was very different from the generation before it. This was due to technological evolution and changing customer tastes, which changed over the years. Introduced in the middle of the 1961 model year and based on the Buick Special two-door coupe, the Special Skylark was a trim level of the Special that featured a more powerful engine, a unique taillight design, a specially designed wheel cover, a vinyl-covered roof and optional individual seats. The Special Skylark also belonged to the compact car category.
From the 1962 model year, the Buick Skylark went from being a version of the Special to becoming a model in its own right. The 1962 Skylark featured the same sheet metal as the 1961 Skylark, but was available in two new body versions. In addition to the two-door convertible, the two-door coupe and two-door hardtop were offered. The power of the 3.5 L engine increased to 190 hp at 4,800 rpm. This Skylark generation was available with a two-speed automatic transmission and a three- or four-speed manual transmission.
This stunning car we present belongs to the second generation of the Skylark, and arrives to us today in perfect condition, having undergone a recent conservative restoration assisted by the renowned Nicola Bulgari Foundation, one of the world's most famous collectors of American cars, which has donated all its knowledge to return this marvellous convertible to its original splendour. Ready to travel any distance with the comfort that only an American classic can do. For years it travelled the streets of the capital owned by a Roman nobleman, and now it rests in the Tuscan hills, and is ready to charm us at the Milano AutoClassica show.
