Beschreibung

1980 Bristol 412 Series 2 Convertible styled by Carrozzeria Zagato, with whom Antony Crook, MD of Bristol Cars had a close working relationship, this 140mph fast touring car featured a removable Targa top as well as Convertible features.. Making a clean break from the traditional Bristol look whilst retaining its predecessors chassis, Bristol produced a beautifully hand-built aluminium body with sumptuous leather interior and walnut veneer dash catering for those individuals who wanted a truly exclusive motor vehicle.
The Bristol 412 Series 2, launched in the later 70’s was powered by the well-tried Chrysler 5.9 (360 cu in) engine and TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Early 412’s had Italian built bodies whilst later cars were entirely built by Bristol Cars Ltd.
Running and driving well and finished in Pegasus Blue, this rare 412 S2 was purchased by Howard Guard, the previous owner in 1993 from R.F. Fuggle of Bushey Heath, joining his collection of Bristol Cars. The car and its stablemates were carefully garaged in a dry, well aired barn and regularly exercised over a 1 mile circuit in his grounds.
When Mr. Guard decided to reduce his collection, the new owner purchased the car so that it could be immediately enjoyed whilst his other 412 was still under restoration. Although already in excellent running order, the new owner decided to completely retrim the interior in red leather, replace the carpets, the rear folding roof and restore the Targa top and other roofing areas. The roll- bar has been replaced and new front seat belts installed. It has new spark plugs and the engine, gearbox and back axle oils drained and refilled. As the owners 1979 Bristol 412 nears completion, it has been decided to sell this car. Interestingly, the car only covered some 2137 miles in the hands of Mr Guard in the years between 2006 and 2018.
Available information suggests that around 34 Bristol 412 series 2 were made with around 26 still running. The Bristol Owners Club is an excellent source of information such as copy handbooks source of spares etc.
A fine example of a true connoisseur's Gran Turismo
