Beschreibung
Richard-Brasier was founded in 1902 by Georges Richard and Charles-Henri Brasier, who created some of France’s fastest cars at that time. M. Richard had a license to build cars, and with the addition of M. Brasier came production skill and guidance, as he was formerly the chief engineer at the Mors automobile factory. The firm introduced state-of-the-art features such as a vertically mounted engine and shock absorbers, which allowed their models to be driven to victory by Léon Théry in the 1904 and 1905 Gordon Bennett Cup races.
House Deshayes was founded in 1853 in Avesnes, located in the north of France. While they originally built horse-drawn carriages, in 1900 they began producing coachwork for early cars and became Deshayes Frères & Courtois.
In 1905, Richard-Brasier commissioned Deshayes Frères & Courtois to create this Type D. This fantastic Tourer features curved and beveled glass in the rear as well as Phare Ducellier self-generating acetylene headlights and interior dome lights. This Type D was owned by European collector Maurice Marques in 1987, and was exhibited in a Swiss museum before it was added to the Mullin Collection in 2006.
With very few Richard-Brasiers surviving in private ownership, the opportunity to acquire an exceptional example such as this one surely will not come again.
