BMW’s fresh take on the iconic 507, powered by a 5-litre, 400-horsepower M5 engine. Pioneered at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show, this hand-built aluminum car initially disappointed in sales numbers, yet it skyrocketed in price as soon as production ended in 2003. A 375hp automatic version was made by Alpina, focused on long distance comfort driving, rather than pure performance, with the model’s unequivocally retro looks. A silver example made BMW’s debut as a ‘Bond Car’ in ‘The World is Not Enough’ (1999), starring Pierce Brosnan as Agent 007. Spoiler alert: not a film to watch if you are not a fan of beautiful cars being cut in half.
This clean, two-owner car has been a California vehicle since new —in fact, it has never left Orange County until our acquisition. Finished in an elegant shade of black over a black leather interior, it has received consistent care throughout its life by official dealers Shelley BMW and Sterling BMW. With less than 10,000 miles covered since it rolled off the factory floor, this Teutonic muscle car is ready for its next custodian to drive or to preserve as an investment-worthy “youngtimer”.
