A special tribute to BMW’s entry into the super saloon segment, the M5 ’30 Jahre’ (30 years) celebrated the 30th anniversary of the M5 model’s production. However, breaking from the uninspired tradition of cosmetic packages marketed as limited editions, BMW set off to create a true collectible: a 300-car run of the most powerful production BMW cars ever, true 600bhp leviathans aimed to become investment-grade material from the start.

All 300 ’30 Jahre’ cars were outfitted with the same twin-turbo 4.4L V8, tuned suspension (all part of the F10 competition package), special ‘Frozen Dark Silver’ matte paintwork unique to this model, 20-inch lightweight M 601 wheels, M carbon ceramic brakes, special embroidered black merino leather interior with Alcantara accents and ‘30 Jahre’ badging. The right combination of unique features, limited production and extraordinary performance figures made this model reach a peak of $700,000 USD hammer pricing at the Barrett-Jackson auction in 2015 —an astounding number for any BMW!
