The combination of a manual gearbox and leather was rare in E30s, even in Baur convertibles.

The new BMW 3-series, the BMW E30, was released in 1982. It was directly available as a Baur. The letters TC were added to the type designation. When BMW's fully open convertible was released in 1986, they continued with Baur TCs even though the convertible was also developed by Baur.
