Beschreibung

BMW won the 1969 European Touring Car Championship with a works-prepared turbocharged 2002. Relying on this racing experience, the company debuted the 2002 Turbo at the 1973 Frankfurt Motor Show, making it the first production turbocharged automobile ever offered by a European manufacturer. This potent variant produced 170 bhp and was capable of a 0–60 time of seven seconds and a top speed of 130 mph. Part of the Turbo package included a body-colored front spoiler, black rear spoiler, and aggressive wheel flares and graphics package.

This outstanding 2002 Turbo, finished in rare Polaris Silver, was delivered new in Switzerland. The 2002 was imported into the US by the consignor, a devoted and selective collector of European sports cars, in 2014. Carefully maintained throughout its life, this rare BMW presents brilliantly as an example of restoration when necessary with preservation of original components whenever possible. Driveability has been greatly enhanced with the installation of a proper dogleg five-speed gearbox. It has additionally been fitted with attractive factory 2002 Turbo alloy wheels; the original steel wheels and documentation of its Swiss provenance accompany the car.

Exotic, rare, powerful, and sought after by BMW enthusiasts and collectors worldwide, this 2002 Turbo is an impressive example of German engineering and would be an excellent choice for vintage motoring events, club activities, or spirited driving on country roads.
