The tii (for touring international and injection) featured Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection that, together with a higher compression ratio and larger valves, boosted output to 130 bhp. The tii also got beefier brake and suspension components, larger-diameter wheels, and a heavier clutch (it wasonly ever built with a manual box). The mechanical makeover was comprehensive, however, it was hard to tell from the outside as only the 'tii'badge on the rear distinguishes this model.This beautifully restored, UK-supplied, right-hand drive BMW 2002 tii was manufactured in July 1973 and first registered in April the following year. Our vendor, a BMW club member and lifelong enthusiast, discovered the carin 2015 looking a little sorry for itself after a poor quality resprayand many years off the road. The decision was made to set about a ground-up, nut and bolt restoration to bring this desirable roundie (enthusiast'snickname for the early, slim-bumpered, round taillight cars)back to its former glory. The body was refinished in its original colour of Magala Redand the interior retrimmed to the original design using black leather as opposed to the original vinyl. The car has been mostly meticulously restored to original specification including a full engine rebuild with new parts where necessary. A few subtle upgrades include a custom made stainless steel exhaust system, slightly lowered suspension, modern tyres on the original alloys, a leather Nardi steering wheel, heated windscreen and modern electronic ignition.The result of such a detailed restoration is a desirable and collectable 2002 that presents beautifully and is reported to perform extremely well. Our vendor informs us that the Kugelfischer injection system performs exactly as it should with smooth idle and easy engine starting evenwhen it's hot. The engine revs with ease all the way to 7,000rpm and pulls strongly from 1000rpm.The car retains its original 4-speed manual transmission and handling is described as very agile with a comfortable ride.Accompanying this 2002 is a history file including 60,000 of restoration invoices, a recent MOT and current V5c. This is a fine example and one of the very last produced with round tail lamps.
