The name Continental dates from the early 50s of the last century, when Britain had nog motorways. Some proud owners of the R-Type Continental were looking for a real 'Gran Touring' driving experience and had to go the mainland; 'The continent'. This first Continental had a revolutionary streamlined and slim body. The design was a successful experiment for Bentley and the Continental 'was here to stay'.

The Continental GTC has the same elegance as its predecessors, but is characterized by more sportiness.
