Beschreibung

By the early 1980s, the legendary Bentley marque was at risk of extinction, while its fraternal twin, the Rolls-Royce, was in great demand. In an effort to save the marque and bolster sales, Bentley Motors resurrected the Continental moniker in 1984: a modern, well-appointed automobile designed to carry four people and their luggage in sporting comfort, at speeds reaching 126 mph.

In about 2006, the Continental offered here underwent a substantial mechanical and cosmetic restoration. An itemized invoice from Vantage Motors in Stamford, Connecticut, details the intensive work to return the car to its original splendor. Along with a show-quality, bare-metal repaint in its original Brewster Green, it also received a new, correct interior. Supple Connolly tan leather upholstery and trim, deep fawn wool carpets with lambswool overlays, restored burled-walnut woodwork, and a new power-operated Everflex top lined in beige wool complete the cosmetic effort. Electrical, hydraulic suspension, and braking systems were addressed as well.

This truly exceptional Bentley Continental emerged from restoration in early 2007, sparkling inside and out. It stands today as one of the only restored examples of the 430 Continental Convertibles built in this series, and is worthy to be included among any collection of Bentley cars – a hallowed marque currently celebrating the 101st anniversary of its founding.
