Beschreibung
Rare Austin Seven Meteor 2-Seater.
Freshly restored to a high standard.
Charming vintage Australian-bodied sports car.
Discovered in a garage on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this charming little Austin Seven underwent a comprehensive restoration by the current owner, a local enthusiast with plenty of experience in rebuilding classic cars. A very desirable sports-bodied Seven made exclusively for the Australian market, the Meteor was comprehensively refurbished cosmetically and mechanically, with much of the work outsourced to professionals. The all-steel panelled bodywork was handled by Arkim Hanky, the motor was done by John Nolan, the gearbox by renowned specialists Needham and the front end, suspension and brakes all rebuilt by Seven expert Kevin Harte using a stronger beam axle and cast brake drums. Professionally repainted, the car was retrimmed by Duncan Davenport, who also made the new hood that can be detached and stowed behind the seat when not in use. The wire wheels were rebuilt and new Avon tyres fitted.
Returned to its former glory, the fabulous Austin was shown at the Royal Motor Yacht Club Pittwater concours, winning Best Vintage car in 2021. The owner’s real goal was the Centenary of the Austin Seven rally held in Warrnambool in 2022 and the Meteor successfully completed the event without a hitch, covering approximately 500 kilometres. With other projects on the go, the vendor has reluctantly decided to part with the Seven and the Meteor is now ready for the new owner to simply enjoy on club runs or showing at events.
Formerly registered in NSW on non-transferable historic plates and therefore sold unregistered, the car comes with an extensive receipt file covering the rebuild, including all the parts used in the project.
