A total of 1,882 parts were replacedThis is not a replica or an upgrade. It's the return of NSV 288to its showroom-freshbestSupplied withitsUK V5c,Heritage Certificate,MOT (24/07/2020),buff logbook, and full details of therestorationThe Oxford Dictionary's definition of Spritely is - "Like a Sprite, lively, nimble, full of energy"- a description that rather neatly fits our brightly-hued little Austin Healey.A home-market, right-hand drive car, NSV 288was assembled on chassis number# 45288 and was completedon 19/08/1960. It has spent its whole life in the UK, still sporting its originalregistration number and was foundlanguishing in a garage in Hampshire, where it had been hidden for the previous sevenyears, by ourvendor, Memory Lane Classics, who are building an excellent reputation as restorers of Frog Eye Sprites. The Sprite was finishedin Leaf Green but upon examination, the quality of the repairs was such that it was decided that a full restoration was appropriate. The body shell was stripped back to bare metal, panels replaced as needed with new, UK-supplied items andseam-welded to form invisible repairs. The entire shell was powder-coated to ensure a rust-free future.Primrose Yellow was the chosen colour and the littlecar has been superblyfinished in this delightful, summer-freshhue.Mechanically, no expense was spared with a total of 1,882 parts replaced. The complete drive chain, engine, gearbox, prop shaft, differential, and back axle werere-engineered to better than original condition, all brake parts wererenewed, the front suspension and steering mechanism has been replaced, and the fuel system wasupdated with a newtank, fuel lines, electric petrol pump and inline filter. The SU carburettors were stripped andprofessionally rebuilt before being refitted and carefully set-up.The original chrome has been re-plated to better than factoryspecification and the interior looks showroom-fresh withnew black leather seats, new black floor and boot carpets, new trim, and a new wood-rimsteering wheel and gear knob. The classic Sprite dashboardhas been recovered and all the gauges restored and re-calibrated.The hood frame wasstripped and powder-coated and a new black hood and tonneau cover completed the restoration. Obviously, the full list of parts used during this fastidious restoration is too long to cover here but they are fully documentedwithin the history file along with the car'sUK V5c,Heritage Certificate and current MOT which is valid until 24/07/2020.This is a rare opportunity to purchase a fully restored, period-correct, Frog EyeSprite. The build quality and finish is outstanding and needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.
