Beschreibung

One of the automobiles that came to define British motoring, the Austin- Healey 3000, commonly known as the “Big Healey,” found its most refined expression with the introduction of the Mk III BJ8. Introduced in 1964, the Mk III would be the last iteration of the 3000 series, as well as its most luxurious, with a new center console, walnut-veneer dash, toggle switches, and optional leather seating. Major improvements in engine power were supplied by twin SU HD8 carburetors, an improved camshaft, and a highly efficient exhaust system. With all of these features, the meticulously restored Mk III BJ8 offered here serves as an excellent example of why the Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III BJ8 has become so highly regarded among British sports cars.

After it was purchased by its current owner, this BJ8 received a painstaking restoration. Completed in 2009, the two-year process involved dismantling the entire vehicle and rebuilding the car’s body, drivetrain, and interior with every consideration given to restoring both the vehicle’s aesthetic and its mechanical components. Finished in a brilliant dark silver blue and matching navy leather interior, the car has a factory-correct appearance, which is upheld by its rebuilt matching-numbers engine. With a condition comparable to its initial delivery in 1965, this Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III exemplifies why car enthusiasts everywhere admire the BJ8.
