Chassis n°HBT719239
- French registration
- Elegant configuration
- Rare original model with three carburettors
Introduced to the public in 1959, the Austin Healey 3000 is the descendant of a line of British roadsters conceived after the Second World War by Donald Healey with the aim of producing affordable, elegant, high-performance convertibles. Initially powered by a four-cylinder engine under the bonnet of the Austin Healey 100/4, the roadster soon adopted an in-line six-cylinder engine developing almost three litres and 125 bhp in its first version, earning it the nickname ‘Big Healey’. Three versions of the Austin Healey 3000 followed until 1968 with the BJ8, which offered very decent performance for its time. This convertible was a real joy to drive and turned a lot of heads.
The car presented here is a BT7 3000 MKII, configured in an elegant cream and brown colour combination. The bodywork is in good condition. The black soft top and tonneau cover look good, as do the side screens. The original bumpers, removed to give the car a racing look, will be supplied with the car.
The interior has a beautiful patina that lends the car undeniable charm. All the on-board equipment is functional.
During our test drive, the 6-cylinder engine was pleasant to drive, with a sound that will delight fans of mechanical symphony. The car has benefited from discreet improvements such as an electronic ignition, a stainless steel exhaust system and an aluminium radiator installed in 2021 for improved cooling. The original radiator will be supplied to the new owner. The car is presented with its expert report. This is a great opportunity to buy a legendary model in a rare version with its three original carburettors.
