This impressive and well known 1957 Austin Healey 100/6 has been a show car and later evolved for sprints and hill climbs. The vendor has owned the car twice. When he purchased it originally, he was looking for create a fast road-rally spec car. WSJ 175 was built earliest rally 100/6's would have evolved if they had followed the path that later team cars did, especially PMO 203. The spec is in keeping and period for an early 100/6, with minor mods for current driving conditions. Much work has been done on it over time. Head and carbs were modified to run on unleaded fuel, Dennis Welch competition shocks and mountings were upgraded, the flywheel was balanced and lightened, an FIA compliant tank was fitted as was a navigator's map light, Retrotrip, reversing lights, works style gearshift, rally lights, rear over riders, heat shield, Hepolite pistons and aluminium sump. There are uprated front and rear roll bars, all-round polyurethane bushes to the suspension with uprated springs. The factory hardtop is period, from 1957/8. The side windows were rebuilt using new panels, but keeping the original production Abingdon frames.

The complete list of works undertaken is detailed in the impressive files that accompany this stunning car. Much of the work was undertaken by marque specialists Old Dairy Classics (Alan Cameron) and also by leading Austin Healey expert, Bill Rawles. Specifications were checked with BMC/BL team members and managers as well as with later owners. The file for this stunning 100/6 is one of the most impressive we have seen and contains a V5C registration document, a buff log book, a Heritage Trust certificate, previous MoT test certificates and the comprehensive list of works undertaken. The front bumpers were removed in line with 1959 Tulip Rally regulations and are included in the sale as are original radiator grill and other parts. The car has been kept in professional storage for the past two years. This Austin Healey deserves an inspection by anyone interested in the marque or proper British cars, particularly this highly desirable and modified version of the iconic 100/6.Consigned by Dominic Lake
