Auburn was founded in 1900 and built the most beautiful cars until 1937. In 1925, the company was acquired by Erret Cord who incorporated it in his Cord Corporation a few years later. In 1937, the group collapsed during The Great Depression. Unfortunately it also meant the end for Auburn.

This was one of the world's first Supercars and this one has all the performance of the original, if not more. Nowadays they come in at close to $1,000,000 if you can find one, but exact replicas such as this beautiful 852 Speedster built in California are an affordable way to enjoy the experience of a single-vehicle parade without an enormous investment.

The sturdy fiberglass body is a dead-ringer from the original and unlike so many replicas, the owner did everything he could to get the little things just right. The flared pontoon-style mudguards, the sloping enclosed radiator cover which was radical for that period and the defining feature of the car: the pointy 'boat tail', they are all on show here. The finish quality is very nice, with smooth surfaces and excellent openings, there is no squeaking and rattling thanks to the solid build quality.

The Auburn was known for its relative lack of chrome, but the bumpers, the grille insert, the exhaust pipes and the steeply descending V-shaped windscreen all shine brightly. This is a really beautiful car, which proves once again that great design has no age. This car has had one owner who always maintained the car with a lot of love, he has only driven 4,637 miles with it. The car still feels like new.

This Auburn 852 Speedster is in very neat and technically well-maintained condition, the car is also beautifully painted. The car starts immediately, it brakes properly and shifts smoothly through its gears. The interior looks like new as can be seen in the photos.
