Lancée au salon de Birmingham en octobre 1988, la sensationnelle nouvelle Virage reprenait l'allure musclé de ses devancières Aston Martin V8 sur un registre plus moderne, tout en s'arrangeant pour être un peu plus étroite en offrant une meilleure habitabilité. Ce n'était toujours pas un poids plume, mais avec 330 ch délivrés par son fidèle V8 à 32 soupapes, elle approchait les 260 km/h et le 0 à 100km/h était effectué en moins de sept secondes.

Après avoir contribué à la transformation d'Aston Martin pour affronter les années 1990, la Virage fut abandonnée en 1994, remplacée comme modèle de base par un coupé V8 dans le style Vantage. Dévoilé au salon de Genève en mars 1996, le nouveau coupé V8 adoptait un vocabulaire stylistique tout en muscle façon Vantage, mais retenait le moteur 5,3 litres atmosphérique de la Virage et procurait des performances similaires. Le modèle ne fit partie de la gamme Aston Martin que pendant trois années et se trouve être l'un des membres les plus rares de la famille des V8 modernes. Les numéros de châssis s 'étalent de 79001 à 79101, soit un total de 101 voitures dont on estime que seulement une trentaine sont des conduite à gauche, comme celle proposée ici.

De couleur vert Pentland avec un cuir Magnolia à passepoil vert forêt, ce coupé V8 à transmission automatique a été construit le 21 août 1997 mais a été immatriculé seulement le 27 juillet 1999 (un fax au dossier décrit la voiture comme « Ex-Works », livrée avec compteur en kilomètres en mai 1997). L'Aston a été fabriquée aux normes européennes et livrée à Kroymans Automobile en Hollande.

En 2013, la voiture a été exportée et immatriculée en Belgique, avant quoi une somme de plus de 15 000 € avait été dépensée sur elle chez le spécialiste Aston Martin Noble House Heritage. Un document de Noble House Heritage indique que c'est une authentique voiture à numéros concordants, jamais accidentée qui a connu seulement deux propriétaires depuis son origine jusqu'à 2010. Le compteur affiche un kilométrage d'origine de 78 400 kilomètres. La voiture est vendue avec sa carte grise française annulée (2019), un certificat de conformité du constructeur daté de 2019, un ancien certificat de conformité belge daté de 2015, les anciens papiers d'immatriculation hollandaise, des factures d'entretien de 1999-2010 et tous ses manuels originaux.

Launched at the International Motor Show, Birmingham, in October 1988, the sensational new Virage re-stated its Aston Martin V8 forerunner's brawny looks in the modern idiom, contriving to be slightly narrower yet providing increased interior space. The car was still no lightweight, but with 330bhp on tap courtesy of the trusty V8 engine's new 32-valve top end, was good enough for a top speed approaching 260km/h and a 0-100km/h time of under seven seconds.

After spearheading Aston Martin's transformation for the 1990s, the Virage was dropped during 1994, its place as the 'standard' model being taken by a Vantage-style V8 Coupé. Introduced at the Geneva Salon in March 1996, the new V8 Coupé adopted all of the Vantage's muscular styling cues but retained the normally aspirated, 5.3-litre engine of the Virage and delivered similar performance. The model formed part of the Aston Martin range for just three years and is one of the rarer members of the modern V8 family. Chassis numbers ran from '79001' to '79101', a total of 101 cars, of which it is estimated only some 30-or-so were left-hand drive like that offered here.

Finished in Pentland Green with Forest Green-piped Magnolia leather interior, this automatic transmission V8 Coupé was built on 21st August 1997 but only registered for the first time on 27th July 1999. (A fax document on file describes the car as 'Ex-Works', delivered with a KPH odometer in May 1997.) The Aston was built to EU-specification and delivered to Kroymans Automobile in the Netherlands.

In 2013 the car was exported and registered in Belgium, prior to which a sum of over €15,000 had been spent on it at Aston Martin Heritage specialists, Noble House. A Noble House Heritage document states that this is an original matching numbers car, accident free with only two owners from new up to 2010. The odometer currently records a genuine mileage of 78,400 kilometres. The car comes with a cancelled French Carte Grise (2019); a manufacturer's Certificate of Conformity dated 2019; an old Belgian Certificate of Conformity dated 2015; a copy of old Netherlands registration documents; invoice extracts for services 1999-2010; and all its original books.
