Beschreibung
One of just eight V8 Vantage GTEs built, chassis X2 was constructed new for Beechdean Motorsport to compete in the European Le Mans Series during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. It remains the rarest factory Aston Martin GT race car.
The V8 Vantage GTE made its debut with Aston Martin Racing in 2012 at Sebring, and went on to enjoy huge international success, securing two Le Mans 24 Hours GT victories, in 2014 and 2017, alongside seven FIA World Endurance Championship titles.
Powered by a thundering 480bhp 4.5 litre V8, mated to an Xtrac 6-speed transmission, the GTE was a considerable step on from AMR’s GT2 in many areas. Not only was the car a lot easier to work on for the mechanics, but there were improvements in front and rear aerodynamics, weight reduction, engine power and reliability, suspension and cooling for the driver.
During its two seasons with Beechdean Motorsport, X2 achieved two GTE class victories and several further podium finishes. Its 2017 campaign included a very strong performance at the Le Mans 24 Hours, where the car remained in contention for a class podium until the closing stages, ultimately finishing fourth in GTE Am.
Raced by a number of established drivers, including Darren Turner, Ross Gunn, Jonathan Adam and Alex MacDowall, X2 has a well-documented competition history across the European Le Mans Series, including appearances at Silverstone, Spa, Monza, Imola and the mythical Le Mans 24 Hours.
A one-owner, incredibly rare factory Aston Martin Racing GTE car, X2 represents an important period in the marque's modern endurance racing history. And it remains the only example still in the hands of its first owner.
The are now places to race GTE cars again, including Le Mans Classic.
