Beschreibung

An early DBS Vantage, delivered as an export sale to its first owner in Japan in September 1968, some 12 months after DBS production started. Finished in its original Silver Birch build colour and recently re trimmed in Suede Green hide with new matching carpets. Factory equipped from new with refrigerated ‘special’ air conditioning and power assisted steering.

Distinguishable by the ¾ rear wing mounted vents, slimmer sill finishers and slimmer front and rear valances and attractive wire wheels, the early DBS, as presented, is arguably the most elegant and striking variant of the DBS, shown well in this pleasing colour scheme.

Reimported to the UK in 2009 and extensively refurbished by known UK Aston Martin specialists, including the replacement of chassis sills, suspension and brakes overhaul and engine works. A photo record of the described works is included in the history file. Purchased by its current enthusiast owner in 2014, the car has more recently been based in Germany and used lightly, with regular maintenance being carried out by local specialists.

Of the circa 800 DBS produced, some 70 right hand drive examples were manufactured with the Vantage specifications, which included triple Weber carburettors, of which this stylish car is one. Vantage specifications increased engine performance to 325bhp capable of propelling the DBS to a top speed beyond 140mph and a 0-60mph time of less than 7 seconds. Equipped with its original matching numbers engine, the car was originally fitted with automatic transmission but is now supplied with the correct type ZF 5 speed gearbox installed and appropriate final drive ratio fitted to the rear axle.

A delight to drive and prepared in our own workshops the car is available for viewing and demonstration at our Hertfordshire showrooms.
