Beschreibung

The 1959 Aston Martin DBR1 was the first British car to win the World Sport Car championship in the first 30 years of that title's existence. The three-liter DBR1 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959 as well. The factory also built two DBR2 models with 3.7-liter engines for unlimited sports car racing when the Championship was limited to 3 liters. These won major events in both the U.S. and the U.K against current Ferrari and Maserati opposition.

This sale lot is a DBR2 recreation made by Errol Tempero's shop in New Zealand, now a third generation coachbuilder established in 1946. The shapely body is done in aluminum with proper Aston green paint. Details such as the yellow nose ring are present and the interior comes with the period houndstooth upholstery, an upholstered drive train tunnel and an authentic dash and steering wheel. Like the original, the car has right hand drive.
