Beschreibung
1969 Aston Martin DB6 Sports Saloon
Registration no. WLK 527G (not registered with DVLA)
Chassis no. DB6/3569/R
First registered on 17th March 1969 as 'XPA 229G', this particular DB6 was delivered equipped with power-assisted steering, chromed wire wheels, and automatic transmission (replaced with a ZF 4HP automatic by G Whitehouse Ltd in 2005). The car had had four owners (details available) and undergone two changes of registration before its acquisition by AMOC member Mr E J D Fielder in August 1976. Mr Fielder kept the Aston for 36 years before offering it for sale at Bonhams' auction at Aston Martin Works Service in May 2012 (Lot 212) where it was purchased by the vendor and exported. Since then the car has been presented on static display so will require recommissioning before returning to the road.
When sold in 2012, the catalogue description detailed works carried out by Aston Martin Works Service over the years included fitting a stainless steel exhaust in 1975 (and stainless manifolds in 2006) and rebuilding the cylinder head in 1978 with new valves, valve guides and valve seats. In 1980 the engine was rebuilt around a new block by Alan Shackle at Aston Martin Works Service. The sills were replaced at AMWS in 1981. Aluminium coachwork specialists Bucks MG restored the body in 1991, removing all glass and trim and stripping it back to bare metal before repainting.
Regular time/mileage-related general maintenance was (recorded in the previous catalogue description) from 1976 to 2012 saw the oil and filter changed every 2,500-3,000 miles when the car was used regularly; otherwise every 1-2 years depending on usage. When sold by us in 2012, a set of MoT certificates was available dating back to 1975 when the mileage was recorded as 64,973. The total in May 2012 was a believed-genuine 123,100 miles. Sadly the MoT certificates and old restoration invoices have been lost.
Finished in silver with black leather interior, 'DB6/3569/R' is offered with its original buff logbook; old expired V5/V5C documents; and a copy of the guarantee form. Having been on display for the best part of 10 years, this well-specified DB6 will naturally require some recommissioning prior to road use.
