Factory-delivered left-hand-drive Aston Martin DB5s are rare cars indeed. In fact, from a total production run of 1,021 cars, it’s thought that only around 20% were delivered in LHD configuration. This DB5 stands out not only for its presentation in superb Goodwood Green, but also for the fact that it has had just four owners throughout its life.

Sold new in October 1965 to James Cannon of Beverly Farms, MA, for $14,117 when he traded his green E-Type for the new DB5, this car was supplied with extras including air conditioning, engine breather, chrome wheels with three-eared spinners, heated rear screen, and a Blue Spot radio. Mr Cannon kept the car for the next 15 years, during which time it was regularly used by him and fully maintained by Seferian Esradrille of Cambridge, MA.

A subsequent owner undertook a restoration in 1996, where the car was stripped to bare metal, repaired as necessary, and repainted. At the same time, the interior was renewed with full leather, new headliner, and wool carpeting. Continuing the fastidious upkeep of this DB5, the current dedicated custodian has owned this car for more than 16 years and has spared no expense in its maintenance, always shipping the car to the UK for servicing at the Aston Martin specialists Goodwood Green. Recent work includes an engine rebuild, which cost in excess of £38,000. Unsurprisingly, it is accompanied by a detailed history file, even including the original purchase invoice of 20 October 1965.

Following its recent engine rebuild, this car is ready to be used and enjoyed. It is ready to be used as intended, exactly as its previous custodians have enjoyed it.
