Beschreibung
By clothing a specially tuned version of its thoroughbred DB4 GT chassis in exotic, lightweight Zagato coachwork, Aston Martin created a car that is now widely regarded as one of the most beautiful, iconic, and desirable sports cars of its era. Although just 19 examples were built, the DB4 GT Zagato’s aesthetic and racing achievements have left a powerful, enduring legacy.
This car, chassis 0176/R, was the sole example finished in Peony, an elegant dark red. Its first owner, Teddy Beck of Cheshire, England, kept the Aston Martin for over two decades, driving it just 15,000 miles and adding a few of his own personal touches. Remarkably, it has had just four owners since 1979, including Aston Martin director Victor Gauntlett and famed collector Paul Vestey. The current owner, who acquired the car in 1985, has enjoyed this magnificent machine on road and track, driving it more than 30,000 miles and demonstrating its athletic, dual-purpose nature. The Aston Martin has won awards at the world’s leading concours d’elegance and was featured in numerous books on the marque and model. It retains its matchingnumbers engine, as documented by factory build records on file, and is one of the very few Zagato-bodied DB4 GTs to remain in fundamentally original condition, having never required a complete restoration. With its irreplaceable, soulful character, unique appearance, and superb provenance, 0176/R is one of the very best, most original examples of this rare and sought-after breed.
