-Bronze metallic with Cuoio leather with Tan carpeting edged Cuoio, 3.7 liter engine and 4-speed David Brown gearbox, Delivered new to California, Numbers matching, One of 73 original left-hand drive examples manufactured, Optioned from the factory with 3.77 Powr-lok differential and chrome wire wheels.
This is an early series one example DB4 with large bonnet intake, bonnet hinged at rear, cathedral rear taillights, no surround on side windows and egg crate front grille. The Series 1 can be distinguished from all other DB4's as the first iteration as well as being the only is as the only DB4 with front hinged bonnet. It was originally sold new to a Mrs. Kondratief of Malibu, California. Factory records indicate car covered 800 miles in the first two months, then by November of 1961 had accrued 17,000 miles and by January of 1964 she had 32,000 miles. Somewhere during the mid 1970's, the DB4 the car crossed the USA and was acquired by Chester McConnell Jr in Queens, NY. Further history in lacking until its being unearthed circa 2006.
Circa 2006, this DB4 Series 1 was purchased by a well-known Kuwaiti Aston collector. At this time, the DB4 received a complete repaint as well as retrim to the collector's personal taste and requirements by well-known UK specialists. The entire interior including dash, steering wheel, console as well as all interior panels now being trimmed in matching leather. At this time, it was decided to convert the windows from manual to power, driver and passenger electric mirrors were fitted, electronic power steering was supplied and installed. Further, a bespoke air conditioning system was also fitted at that time.
This rare DB4 Series 1 Coupe has been housed in the collection since completion of the above-mentioned work with limited to no use. Although running and driving, a full service and various other maintenance is recommended (we are happy to share our inspection checklist with those who may be interested in purchasing) prior to regular use and enjoyment. These early DB4's are wonderful vintage rally-tour cars and eligible for some of the world's finest events, both on the road and concours lawn.
