The DB2/4 produced from 1953 to 1957 is a 2+2 version of the standard DB2. While the wheelbase was kept the same length, the rear portion of the roof was raised for improved usability.
In 1954 the 2.6-litre (LB6 engine) had it's displacement increased to 2.9-litres (VB6J) to compensate for the increased weight. This resulted in a power increase from 125 hp to 140 hp, which meant it could go from 0 to 60 mph in 10.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 120 mph (193 kph).
From 1953 to 1955 the DB2/4 body was manufactured by Mariners in Birmingham, but the contract with them was not renewed and from December 1954 the bodies were manufacture by Tickford in Newport Pagnell. Various Aston Martins were later manufactured at this location.
