In the hands of its 3rd owner for the past 50 years, this Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk 1 is highly eligible for the Mille Miglia and many other prestigious events.
- Livrée neuve en novembre 1954 à un certain Albert Turrettini à Genève, cette Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk 1 est l’un des 196 exemplaires à carrosserie Saloon produit cette année-là sur une production totale, toutes carrosseries confondues, de 566 exemplaires. Vendue avec un important dossier de factures contenant son Instruction Book d’origine et sa fiche usine, elle a conservé son moteur 3 l d’origine et aborde toujours sa teinte noire réhaussée d’un habitacle en cuir beige.
- Le 20 janvier 1961, elle est achetée par son deuxième propriétaire, un certain William Ferguson, ingénieur britannique résidant à Genève avant d’être revendue en 1968 à un dénommé Jean-Marie Santal à Fernay-Voltaire, une petite commune française à proximité de la frontière. Sept ans plus tard, son propriétaire actuel en prend possession le 13 décembre 1975 ! La voiture est complète, roulante mais à restaurer comme on peut le constater sur les photos d’époque jointe au dossier.
- Une restauration intégrale sera alors engagée sur deux ans avec l’objectif de la présenter au prestigieux Summer Concours de l’Aston Martin Owners Club où elle empochera en 1977 le Gordon Loveridge Trophy pour la plus belle DB2/4, au nez et à la barbe des Anglais ! La tôlerie sera refaite par la carrosserie Montat à Lyon, sans oublier l’ensemble de l’habitacle. Pour la mécanique, une facture d’octobre 1976 indique que toutes les pièces furent commandées directement chez Aston Martin pour être livrées en France.
- Après plusieurs milliers de kilomètres à son volant, des travaux importants furent à nouveau effectués entre 2014 et 2019. La voiture est alors confiée au réputé Garage Eric Perou. Plus de 55 000 € seront investis avec notamment l’achat d’un nouveau bloc moteur chez Flint Engineering Dev, la remise à neuf de la mécanique, les trains roulants avec le remplacement des roulements de roue, des jantes à 72 rayons, contrôle des freins, remplacement des pneus, etc…
- Avec son moteur de 3 l de cylindrée, la DB2/4 était l'une des voitures les plus rapides construites à l'époque en Grande-Bretagne avec 193 km/h en pointe, offrant une tenue de route exemplaire et un niveau de confort rare pour une voiture capable de telles performances. Autocar dans son numéro du 2 octobre 1953 résumait bien la chose : « L'Aston Martin DB2/4 est une voiture onéreuse conçue pour les connaisseurs de voitures de sport qui ne sont pas limités par des considérations financières ! »

- Delivered new in November 1954 to a certain Albert Turrettini in Geneva, this Aston Martin DB2/4 MKI is one of just 196 Saloon-bodied examples produced that year, out of a total production of 566 units across all body styles. Sold with an extensive file of invoices, including its original Instruction Book and factory record, it has retained its original 3-litre engine and still sports its black paintwork, enhanced by an elegant beige leather interior.
- On January 20, 1961, the car was purchased by its second owner, a British engineer named William Ferguson, who was living in Geneva at the time. In 1968, it was sold to Jean-Marie Santal in Fernay-Voltaire, a small French town near the Swiss border. Seven years later, on December 13, 1975, the current owner acquired the car. It was complete and running, though in need of restoration—as shown by the period photos included in the file.
- A full restoration was then undertaken over a two-year period, with the goal of presenting the car at the prestigious Summer Concours of the Aston Martin Owners Club. In 1977, it was awarded the Gordon Loveridge Trophy for best DB2/4—beating the British at their own game! Bodywork was carried out by Carrosserie Montat in Lyon, and the interior was fully redone. An invoice from October 1976 shows that all mechanical parts were ordered directly from Aston Martin and shipped to France.
- After thousands of kilometers of enjoyable driving, further major work was carried out between 2014 and 2019. The car was entrusted to the renowned Garage Éric Perou. Over €55,000 were invested during this phase, including the purchase of a new engine block from Flint Engineering Dev, a full mechanical overhaul, suspension work including new wheel bearings, new 72-spoke wheels, brake checks, and new tires, among other items.
- Powered by its 3-liter engine, the DB2/4 was one of the fastest British cars of its era, capable of reaching 193 km/h, with outstanding handling and a level of comfort rarely seen in performance cars of the time. As Autocar summed it up in its October 2, 1953 issue:
"The Aston Martin DB2/4 is an expensive car, designed for connoisseurs of sports cars who are not limited by financial considerations!"
