Beschreibung

Transmission: 4 gears, Manual gearbox
Model year: 2022
Registration number: AM-16-36

This Aston Martin DB2 was the first Aston Martin model to be produced in serious numbers. Although those serious numbers are still very relative with a total number of 411 pieces, of which only 306 coupés. Production ran only from 1950 to 1953. This example was delivered new to Portland Cement Manufacturers in London on July 18, 1958.

The Aston Martin DB2 is powered by a 2.6 liter inline six designed by W.O. Bentley. The engine, combined with the ultramodern chassis for the time, was the reason Aston Martin won its class at Le Mans in 1950 and also took second place and became third in 1951. In this case, the car is still equipped with its original engine, which was recently completely overhauled. This is therefore a matching numbers copy.

This is a very fine example from 1958. The car has been restored in the past and is still in very good condition. The DB2 is a very balanced design with beautiful lines and good proportions.

The body is in good condition with beautiful sheet metal. The body is on a good chassis that is of course completely free of rust. The body has beautiful chrome and the car has original wire wheels. The Cardinal Gray paint is neatly cared for and has a beautiful shine. The car was completely repainted in the recent past and is therefore practically completely free of signs of wear.

The inside of the car is a feast for the eyes. The leather has a beautiful patina and the seats have recently been refilled. The carpets are in good condition and fit well everywhere. The dashboard is extremely beautiful. The woodwork is in very good condition and the instruments and controls are all in very good condition and function as they should. The canopy is covered with felt that is also in very good condition. Also items such as the steering wheel and the shifter for the transmission are completely original and look beautiful. The seating position is very good and taller drivers can also effortlessly find a good seat, which they noticed early on at Aston Martin.

The engine and transmission have been overhauled in the recent past and are in very good condition. The engine runs beautifully and the transmission shifts precisely. In addition, the car is also equipped with a well-functioning overdrive. The differential is of course free of noise and the chassis and brakes are more than well suited to their task. The engine is more than powerful enough to accelerate the DB2 smoothly, even by today's standards. The engine sounds very good and has a good usable midrange. There is little that beats that typical sound of a fit six-in-line. In addition, this DB2/4 has the additional advantage that it is a so-called Mark 3 version that is labeled by connoisseurs as the best driving DB2/4.

The Aston Martin DB2 is a timelessly beautiful model and also a very important car in the history of Aston Martin. The fact that the car is also a pleasure to drive is the icing on the cake. In short, a beautiful matching numbers Aston Martin DB2 in an attractive color scheme and in good optical and technical condition.
