Beschreibung
Amilcar CGSS 1928 - superb history - quality restoration - important file accompanying the car
This Amilcar (chassis #19360) was delivered new to England in 1928 before being imported to Denmark where it spent most of its life. One of the first owners was Max Schreiner, a well-known racing driver, pictured at the wheel in Copenhagen in 1928. He sold the car shortly afterwards and it is interesting to note that the car retained the same registration (K-7761) until 2024.
The car remained in Denmark and was purchased in 1972 by Dr Mogens Bessermann, who maintained and drove the car regularly. Throughout his ownership, Dr Bessermann kept all correspondence and documents relating to this Amilcar. He possesses important documents and numerous binders that attest to the quality of his history and his legitimacy.
Aurélien Dechambre, a French specialist in the make, restored the engine (#41624) from A to Z, including the Cozette 7 compressor and a Speed cylinder head. The engine has been well tuned and the car has covered more than 3,000km since its restoration. The car has a new exhaust with a copper tailpipe for a better sound (€14,000 of recent invoices).
The car is painted in a Bleu de France colour, in keeping with the period tint, with navy blue leather seats. The wiring harness is new, with the fuses hidden under the dashboard and in the rear tip. An original Motometer has been fitted to the radiator cap. The four original fenders and chrome cross for the headlights, as well as the spoked spare wheel, key and wheel carrier are sold with the car. All five wheels and Blockley tyres are new.
This Amilcar is interesting because it is one of the rare 885 CGSS produced by the marque and all the owners are known (with a hole during the Second World War). The oldest original document dates from 1952 (title deed).
This Amilcar was appraised by Stéphane Bonoron and now has a CG Collection Française. The current owner is Brissonnet's grandson and has many documents about the Speed brand and their cylinder heads.
It was the current owner who undertook a major research project on this CGSS, going to Denmark to meet the previous owner and putting together a glowing dossier on the car. He has letters from the Amilcar Register and numerous photos.
It's rare to find a CGSS in such good condition and with such a complete history on the market. Following a serious mechanical restoration, this is a car that drives easily on today's roads and will not cost its future buyer anything!
