Sydney Allard, the founder of Allard Motorcars, was a true racer. His got inspiration for his cars from makes like Bugatti. An Allard is characterised by a very keen power to weight ratio. These ratios surpassed even those of a contemporary Sunbeam Tiger or an AC Cobra. The Allard Motor Company existed from 1945 to 1958. Only 119 Allard K2’s were ever built. At the time Allard's chose to supply the US market with a Rolling Chassis. In the UK a Ford engine was often used, whilst in the US a Cadillac or Chrysler V8 were the engines of choice. Our unique 1950 Allard K2 has a V8 Cadillac. The bodywork is sound and the engine runs well. The current condition is remarkable considering the fact that they used to be raced. This does mean that not many K2’s have survived. The extensive documentation accompanying this car contains for instance the 1st bill of sale and the Pink sheet as well a a number of newspaper articles and lots of correspondence regarding the cars’ past and the American branch of the Allard Motorcar Company. This K2 forms a very solid restoration base, with a rust-free chassis and nice and correctly aligned body panels. The car is complete and in good condition.
