With a chassis derived from Alfa Romeo’s 75 Group A touring car racer and one of the best-sounding V6s of all time, the Alfa Romeo ES 30, as it was first called (Experimental Sportscar 3.0), is becoming increasingly sought after. The RZ (Roadster Zagato) we have here is even scarcer than its SZ coupe counterpart. Of the 350 intended, only 278 left Zagatos Terrazzano di Rho factory, making it rarer than most post-70s Ferrari limited edition supercars.

Known as “il mostro” for its controversial yet certainly special and, in our opinion, very beautiful design, this particular Alfa Romeo RZ is the 149th car built. Constructed in 1993, originally with a Nero exterior and a Rosso interior, it was first registered in Japan in 1995, where it has stayed for the majority of its life between a number of owners. During this time, the car was relacquered to its current colour, a beautiful Nero Etna, a very special Alfa Romeo hue that can be described as black with a bit of red in it. Depending on the lighting, you can see a dark purple, red, and, of course, black. Along with the lacquering, the rear lights were also painted black.

In the summer of 2020, the car was exported to France by Monsieur Damien. Documents from the time of his ownership show the car had a new clutch and fuel pump installed, along with a smaller interior renovation. Shortly thereafter, in 2022, the car was imported to Sweden by Alfa Romeo privateer racing driver Mr. Hoffsten.

Today, the car benefits from a recent service by Hoffsten Motor. When MOTIKON acquired the car, as part of our standard procedure, we conducted a test on the vehicle and addressed every issue identified during the test, ensuring its mechanical integrity.
