The History of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

The "Giulietta Spider" has a 1.290 cm³ in-line longitudinal four-cylinder engine that produces 65 HP (80 HP in 1958), and allows the car to reach a top speed of 155 km/h (165 km/h in 1958).
The engine block is in light alloy with cast iron cylinder liners, while the head in light alloy, with spark plug in the center of the combustion chamber.
Fuel is managed by a semi-inverted Solex double-barrel carburetor, while the distribution with two valves per cylinder arranged in a V shape is controlled by two overhead camshafts with chain drive.
The drive is rear and the brakes are drum on the four wheels. The front suspension has independent wheels, with deformable wishbones, coil springs, telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and anti-roll bar.
The rear suspensions, on the other hand, have a rigid bridge, guided by trailing arms and reaction triangle, again with coil springs and telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers.
The Veloce version is equipped with two double-barrel Weber 40 DCOE 3 carburettors, with a compression ratio increased from 8.5: 1 to 9.1: 1, which allowed the car to reach 180 km/h, instead of 165 km/h of the normal version.
In 1962, the last year of production of the model, 1,182 "Giulietta Spider" were produced.

Our Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

This fascinating Giulietta Spider was produced in 1962 and delivered new in Florence the same year, to a well-known Florentine collector, who kept the property for many years.
The car is in excellent body condition, with the color combination, red paint on black interior, which fits perfectly with the sporty yet sophisticated character of the Giulietta Spider.
The engine has recently been overhauled and runs full, with no uncertainties or loss of revs.
The recently restored interiors are in excellent condition.
The original panel of the Veglia instrumentation is intact, perfectly functional, just yellowed by the fascinating patina of time.
The original two-spoke Bakelite steering wheel fits harmoniously into the dashboard and the metal ashtray and the angular gear lever stand out on the central bridge.
Characteristic and not without originality, the rear-view mirror positioned on the center of the dashboard.
The black top has been restored as new.
