Model history

With the introduction of the Giulietta in 1954, Alfa Romeo established a big step towards mass production for Alfa Romeo. The Giulietta's arrival caused a sensation; demand quickly outstripped supply, causing Alfa Romeo to rethink its production strategy and become a high-volume manufacturer. The company's replacement for its advanced 1900 saloon and coupe followed the same formula in offering a number of body styles, allied with a powerful twin cam engine up-front. Body styles included a 2+2 coupé, 4-door saloon, estate, Spider, Sprint, and Sprint Speciale. The 2+2 was Alfa Romeo's first successful foray into the 1.3-litre class.
The Giulietta used an Alfa Romeo Twin Cam straight-four of 1290 cc, with an aluminium alloy engine block and cast iron inserted sleeves. The aluminium alloy cylinder head was of a crossflow design and featured hemispherical combustion chambers. The double overhead camshafts were driven by two timing chains, and acted on two valves per cylinder, angled 80°.

The Bertone designed Giulietta Sprint was a rather small car, practical and easy to use with high performance. The Giulietta Sprint continued the classical and first rate Alfa Romeo production, renewing the sport traditions of the firm.

Still today the Giulietta Sprint looks extremely charming and is one of the most typical Italian cars of the mid-fifties.

This example

This Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint 750 B was built in 1959 and is one the last 750 series produced.

The car remained in Italy until she was inspected by the very knowledgeable Italian car specialist Kees van Stokkum in Italy and imported to the Netherlands in 1988.

The car was acquired by a famous Dutch rally driver. While he used his Triumph TR3 for rally’s, the Alfa disappeared in the garage and has barely been used. In 1994 the current long term owner bought the car with the intention of using it, but the same thing happend: the Alfa remained for many years in his garage.

In 2019 the motor was completely overhauld. And by the end of 2019 she was finally brought back to life by well know specialists, costing over 7.000,- euro. After its recent reviving she is a very pleasant and good looking old lady and drives very nicely. The engine gives brisk performance and the 4 speed gearbox shifts very smooth. The result is a very original Alfa Romeo Sprint. Long term ownership, 26 years with its current owner.

The price is only euro 45.000,- Do ask for our walk around video or more pictures as required.
