Spurred by the 1963 integration of Autodelta S.p.A. as Alfa Romeo's famed in-house competition arm under then President Giuseppe Luraghi, the marque channeled its racing innovations directly into its road-going models. Launched in September 1963, the 105-series Giulia distinguished itself from the outgoing 101-Series Giulietta with a 1,570-cc engine offering greater power and refinement, backed by a five-speed transmission, independent front suspension, coil-sprung live rear axle, and on later cars, four-wheel disc brakes. The coupe interpretation-Giugiaro's clean, four-seat Sprint GT of 1963-matched the underpinnings to timeless Bertone styling.

Evoking those celebrated Autodelta-derived Alfas, this 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT "Stepnose" has been thoughtfully restored and upgraded into a touring car-style hot rod. The car is notably fitted with a desirable 2.0-liter Twin Spark motor, which has been further enhanced with dual Weber carburetors, Pittatore camshafts, and an Alfaholics cam cover. Its extra grunt of power is handled by a rebuilt five-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. Other upgrades include an aluminum radiator, lightweight flywheel, stainless steel exhaust, and Alfaholics alloy fuel tank. The Alfa's already-revered handling has been further tuned with Koni dampers and performance springs, with its GTA-style 14-inch alloy wheels enclosing ventilated disc brakes.
According to its Certificato di Origine from the Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo, this example was originally specified in Rosso Alfa (Alfa Red) over a Skai nero fumo (black faux leather) interior-a fundamental combination which it still wears today. Produced 28 April 1965, the car was delivered new that same month to Newark, California.

The Alfa's transformative upgrades were primarily performed in the early 2010s by The Pit Stop Automotive of Brisbane, California, whose restorations have garnered honors at concours events from Pebble Beach to Villa d'Este. The engine and transmission in particular were rebuilt by Italian car expert Raffi Najjarian. The Giulia was resprayed in its correct Alfa Red with a distinct yellow nose added in further tribute to Autodelta. The interior also benefitted from fresh gray seat upholstery with black carpets and Tilton hanging pedals.

The rejuvenated Alfa received additional interior refurbishments and replacement of its springs in 2022, before it was acquired the following year by the consignor-a passionate Italian car collector based in Rhode Island.

Offered today with an owner's manual and several invoices on file detailing the full extent of its enhancements, this expertly restored and modified 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT is an exceptionally capable companion for any historic rally, vintage track day, or simply to get the adrenaline pumping on a spirited Sunday morning drive.
