Beschreibung

In 1962, Alfa Romeo updated its 101-Series Giulietta Sprint Coupe. The revised model was rebadged “Giulia” and received several improvements. A redesigned dashboard incorporated restyled heating controls, and the car featured a threespoke Bakelite steering wheel and vinyl-covered door panels. Complementing the “1600” emblems affixed to the body, the Giulia Sprint was equipped with an enlarged alloy 1.6-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine coupled to a synchromesh five-speed gearbox. Developing 91 bhp at 6,200 rpm, the engine propelled the 2+2 coupe to a claimed 107 mph top speed, a notable achievement for the time.

Finished in attractive, dark blue paint over a gray cloth-and-vinyl interior, this Giulia Sprint was sold new in Italy in 1963. While its early history is unknown, this Alfa Romeo was purchased by the noted Miami-based collector Leo Schigiel in 2015. Before its export to the US from Italy, Mr. Schigiel commissioned a restoration of the Alfa Romeo between 2015 and 2017 by Carrozzeria Capello, as documented by records on file.

The beautifully restored Alfa Romeo is offered with an owner’s manual, tools, jack, spare, and historical documentation. With its “small car, big performance” formula, which distinguished many of Alfa Romeo’s postwar models, this Giulia Sprint is sure to delight its next custodian.
