Beschreibung

The Giulia 1600 Spider was presented at the Monza Circuit in June 1962 as the successor to the Giulietta Spider.

As well as beautiful lines by Pininfarina, it also offered good performance, and at the time of its launch, with a launch price of just over 1.8 million lire for the basic model and just under 1.9 million lire for the Veloce, it became one of the most popular Alfa Romeo Spiders.
Just over 10,000 units were produced (9,250 for the Spider and 1,091 for the Spider Veloce *some theories exist), spanning the years 1962-1965.

The Giulia Spider inherited the body lines and interior of the Giulietta Spider almost verbatim, so apart from the bonnet, which had air intakes added to accommodate the new mechanics, there are few distinctive Giulia details. Engine power is 92 hp, almost the same as the Veloce, which was lined up as a high-performance model. Both are longitudinally mounted four-cylinders with a displacement of 1570 cc, light alloy cylinder heads and crankcases and a DOHC system, although the Veloce has two carburettors.

The instrument panel was faithful to the Giulietta's layout, but with modern graphics for the time. The full scale speedometer and rev counter reach 220 km/h and 8000 rpm respectively. The car looked graceful and drove well, and was also described as ‘one of the most fun little sports cars’.

This Spider presented here is a normale model imported to Japan from California in 2002. It has been partially modified, and although it is not a Veloce, it has twin carburettors, air funnels and a rather wild sound. The body was repainted a few years ago and the body itself is in great condition.
