Hexagon Classics are thrilled to offer this wonderful  Alfa Romeo 8C Monza.

Around 190 of the special Alfa Romeo 8Cs were built between 1931 and 1934. They embodied some of the most advanced technology of their time: in-line eights with dual overhead camshafts, superchargers and a driving position set well back behind the long bonnet. The Alfa Romeo 8C was the supercar of its day.

These Alfas evoke grainy films of Monza, the Mille Miglia, the Targa Florio, Monaco and the old Nürburgring with drivers such as  Borzacchini, Ferrari, Campari and the Figlio del Diavolo, the Devil’s Brother, Tazio Nuvolari behind the steering wheels of these narrow, lightweight and ferociously powerful cars in the early Thirties. Values for these 8C’s are well into the seven-figure mark, and they usually only appear at the most prestigious classic motoring events.

The 8C drives easily on the road. It’s not modern, far from it, but it’s straightforward and mechanically logical. Driven conservatively it pulls from minimal rpm in any gear with power and a great straight-eight sound. The steering is light and stable above parking speeds; it goes wherever it’s pointed. The 2.6 litre 195 bhp engine’s inertia and the straight-cut gearbox take a little getting used to, as does the central accelerator pedal. This car offers the legendary 8C feeling for a fraction of the investment value of the Thirties cars.
