The successor to Alfa Romeo’s Spider 1600 Duetto of The Graduate movie fame, the 1750 Spider Veloce was visually similar yet endowed with uprated mechanical highlights like a larger 1,779 cc engine and improved underpinnings. This outstanding late-production example has excellent provenance, having been traded in 1973 to Jacksonville, Florida’s legendary Brumos Porsche, an outfit that won the 24 Hours of Daytona four times. The Alfa Romeo was retained by the family of Bob Snodgrass, a founder of Brumos Porsche, for personal use. As a gift to his father, Robert Snodgrass Jr. had the car restored to original condition in the early 2000s. The Spider remained part of the Brumos Collection for over 45 years, passing through three generations of the Snodgrass family.

Attesting to its quality presentation and correctness, the Spider was displayed at the 2005 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and received First in Class honors at the 2019 Alfa Romeo Owners Club Cortile della Corsa (Courtyard of Racing) national convention at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. It retains Pininfarina body no. 151951 as stamped on the trunk floor, and the DuPont Duco paint sticker reading “Avorio” (Ivory) is found on the trunk lid; fit and finish are excellent.
